Preventing water damage should be a main concern in your home. In addition to basement waterproofing, check your plumbing for leaks on a regular basis. As you can see in the attached video, simple inspections can prevent water damage in your Hamptons home. Here are a few tips to help you prevent leaks in your plumbing:
- Inspect pipes and waterproof your basement following the winter months or a hard freeze. Your pipes may have frozen and burst, and you may not know until you have a flood in your basement.
- Check the plumbing fixtures under your sinks. Feel the hoses and fixtures for any moisture, and check the surrounding cabinet for signs of water damage.
- Lay a water-collecting pan under your washing machine. Check the hoses connecting the machine for frays, bubbles, or tears. Change out the hoses every three to five years.
